Sean obtained his First-Class Honours Bachelor of Arts in Co-op Philosophy from the University of Victoria in 1993, and his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University Law School in 1996. He was admitted to the Bar of British Columbia in 1998 after articling to Darrell W. Roberts, LL.M. (Harvard), Q.C., in Vancouver, and then went on to practise civil litigation and family law in Prince George. Sean then spent a few years teaching at a Japanese university high school and an American university in greater Tokyo, and became a member of the Alberta Bar in March, 2009, shortly after returning to Canada.
Sean has served as co-chair of the City of Calgary’s Canada Day Activities Committee, secretary-treasurer of UNICEF British Columbia’s Education for Development Committee, secretary of the board of directors of the Prince George United Way, and a director of the British Columbia Eating Disorders Association. He has also been a member of the Prince George Rotary Club and the City of Prince George’s Social Allocations Committee, a volunteer lawyer for the Western Canada Society to Access Justice, a volunteer caseworker for Queen’s University Legal Aid, and a Big Brother.
Sean is currently a volunteer lawyer for Calgary Legal Guidance, the Canadian Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyer Service, and the Children’s Legal & Educational Resource Centre. He is also a member-at-large with the Queen’s University Alumni Association.
